DO ABUSERS HAVE A CONSCIENCE?

By Terry Loving

The goal of this command is love, which comes from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith. Timothy 1:5

A CRY FOR JUSTICE BOOK

“And herein do I exercise myself – And this very tenet is a pledge for my good behavior; for as I believe there will be a resurrection, both of the just and unjust, and that every man shall be judged for the deeds done in the body, so I exercise myself day and night, that I may have a conscience void of offense toward God and toward men.

Toward God – In entertaining no opinion contrary to his truth; and in offering no worship contrary to his dignity, purity, and excellence.

Toward men – In doing nothing to them that I would not, on a change of circumstances, they should do to me; and in withholding nothing by which I might comfort and serve them.” 1

“Abusive people have dysfunctional or even non-functioning consciences. In contrast, their victims have very active consciences. And the abuser uses this to his advantage. He can, without any hesitation or remorse, insinuate a horrid charge against her, making her feel the pangs of her own conscience, and causing her to wonder if she really is guilty.” 2

 …………………………………………..

Most have heard the saying, “Let your conscience be your guide.” When making decisions in life, “normal” thinking people rely on their inner voice to decide what actions they should take. Depending upon the level of maturity, a person with high morals, integrity, ethics and the like will usually make decisions they can live with. In other words, the choices they make in life would be those that do not keep them awake at night torturing their minds with guilt. After making their final decision they are able to live with themselves knowing they made the right choice – no harm done.

 …………………………………………..

1 John 3:21
“Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God.”

 …………………………………………..

The abuser’s decision-making process is much different. Their decisions are not based upon what is right, just, fair, moral, ethical, nor do they consider the feelings of others. Life is all about the abuser and their comfort and well-being. It is within the avenues of power and control as well as entitlement that the abuser establishes a domain of terror. He feels justified.

The word conscience is defined as:

[kon-shuhns] Show IPA

noun

1. the inner sense of what is right or wrong in one’s conduct or motives, impelling one toward right action: to follow the dictates of conscience.

2. the complex of ethical and moral principles that controls or inhibits the actions or thoughts of an individual.

3. an inhibiting sense of what is prudent: I’d eat another piece of pie but my conscience would bother me. 3

 …………………………………………..

Pastor Jeff Crippen beautifully explains in his book – A CRY FOR JUSTICE how we assume that abusers must be “weighed down” by their horrid actions toward others. Normally, non-abusive souls would agonize over wrongs committed towards others, and seek to make amends. Because we would feel bad inside, we naturally think that others would feel the same – not so with abusers. In fact, Jeff explains how abusers use our assumptions against us as they play the “victim.” The abuser’s deeds do not weigh heavy upon them, for they are functioning in what they perceive as a normal way of life. They are oblivious to the real pain they cause others because they do not care – life is all about the abuser – no one else – not even God.

…………………………………………..

…………………………………………..

In the absence of a “healthy” conscience, abusers can beat the daylights out of their victims, and minutes later take the family out for an ice cream cone. His family, especially his spouse is his personal property to do with them as he sees fit. The beatings or verbal put downs in his mind are his God-given right to keep his family in line. After all, God made him the head, and all beneath him must submit or face dire consequences. Is there any remorse for the abuse? Never! Entitlement and false justification do not produce such emotions.

 …………………………………………..

Abusers lack empathy which is why they can bloody your face and throw you a towel in disgust – “Clean yourself up, you are a mess!” Your bloody wounds are only an issue when you no longer look “pretty.” After all, he is the only man that is allowed to look at you. They will never admit fault for your pain, because you – according to them – “Brought it on yourself!” Abusers are very capable of fake empathy, especially when the abused threatens to leave them. The false tears only serve to melt the heart of the abused, and the cycle of torture will repeat itself. This is how the crazy making stage begins.

obey fist

 …………………………………………..

Abusers who claim to be Christians pretend holiness, and yet – they have no conscience – not in the sense of what we define as “normal.” 1Timothy 4:2 speaks of “hypocrites” and “liars” that have a conscience that has been “seared with a hot iron.” Verses 1-5 gives us a clear picture of the spiritual apostasy that shall take place in these “latter days” – the Christian age. According to various views of Bible commentaries, a conscience “seared with a hot iron” can also be applied to the conscience of abusers, especially those who call themselves Christians.

woman hit man with shoe

  …………………………………………..

Can we not safely say that abusers in our places of worship have “departed from the faith?” The foundation of the “faith” that Jesus ministered is based on love. It is not possible that abusers are following Christ, but their own hypocritical self-imposed doctrine of hate. They are incapable of the agape love that we should have for one another. Agape love possesses compassion for the plight of others as well as; empathy; true love; it is selfless, sacrificial, unconditional love that abusers do not possess.

  …………………………………………..

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16

“He that loves not knows not God; for God is love.” 1 John 4:8

“A new commandment I give to you, That you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.”  John 13:34-35

“Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.”  1 Corinthians 13:1-13

The consciences of abusers are senseless and unfeeling as flesh that has been cauterized. “The sensitiveness of their consciences is destroyed by the brand of the devil.”  People’s New Testament

domestic-abuse

“The metaphor is from the practice of branding slaves or criminals, the latter on the brow. These deceivers are not acting under delusion, but deliberately, and against their conscience. They wear the form of godliness, and contradict their profession by their crooked conduct (2 Timothy 3:5). The brand is not on their brow, but on their conscience. Comp.” Titus 1:15; Titus 3:11Vincent’s Word Studies

New American Standard Bible (©1995)
“To the pure, all things are pure; but to those who are defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure, but both their mind and their conscience are defiled.” (Titus 1:15)

  …………………………………………..

Jeff also notes a “degree of abuse” that ranges from “remarkably selfish” to “narcissistic,” “sociopaths” to “psychopaths.” When abusers reach the sociopath or psychopath levels, many people view the abusers as having no conscience at all. However, Pastor Crippen maintains that abusers do have a conscience, but they are “dysfunctional.” They possess not the normal means of inner conviction which keeps our passions for wrong in check.

When the searing of the conscience takes place, no one can say for sure. What we can know is the fact that abusers “speak lies in hypocrisy,” they are senseless, and unfeeling:

  …………………………………………..

“Such a conscience exists in a mind that will practice delusion without concern; that will carry on a vast system of fraud without wincing; that will incarcerate, scourge, or burn the innocent without compassion; and that will practice gross enormities, and indulge in sensual gratifications under the mask of piety.”  Barnes’ Notes on the Bible

The Sociopath Next Door

   …………………………………………..

I highly recommend A CRY FOR JUSTICE for many reasons. It opened my eyes to a darker side of abusers, and their cunning ways. This book took my understanding of abuse much deeper, and I could feel the essence of evil more acutely as I read each page. It is a must read for those who desire to counsel the abused, and for church leaders who need to educate themselves concerning this atrocity that is hidden within our houses of worship. In addition, I also recommend this book for self-study as well as group Bible study.

    …………………………………………..

The main reason I applaud this work is the fact that Pastor Crippen isn’t afraid to “call a spade a spade.” He says what needs to be said, and isn’t concerned as many other pastors are about stepping on toes. There is no arrogance in his preaching  and teaching against domestic abuse, for he understands that the Christian church is under spiritual attack, and the people of God have been silent and ignorant for too long. The last place on earth we should witness abuse is in our houses of worship, and our Christian homes.

    …………………………………………..

It is important to understand the many faces of abusers and how they deceive us. Jeff also covers topics such as, “Why the Church Covers Up Abuse,” “Dealing With Abusers,” “The Abuser’s Use of Shame and Fear” and much more. He also covers “The Devastating Effects of Abuse on Children.” Personally, I am one who is suffering, and will most likely continue to suffer those “devastating effects.” They are very real!

WHY IS “REPENT” SUCH A DIRTY WORD?

By Terry Loving

Mourners bench2

“Thus says the LORD, “Stand by the ways and see and ask for the ancient paths, Where the good way is, and walk in it; And you will find rest for your souls. But they said, ‘We will not walk in it.’”

Jeremiah 6:16

……………………………………..

In times past, preachers and Revivalists used what was called the “mourner’s bench” to call sinners to repentance.  After hearing a sermon that cut deep within the soul, a “sinner” would be “moved” by the Holy Spirit to change their sinful ways, kneel at the mourner’s bench – confess and denounce all wrong.

……………………………………..

In modern churches, preachers invite or extend altar calls to those who desire to receive Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. During this time, people will publically confess Jesus as Lord, and get baptized – depending on the type of church they worship in.  This is also a time of “joining” a place of worship that is to your liking.

……………………………………..

The mourner’s bench has no spiritual powers – its significance is merely a symbol, a visual that connected sin, confession and repentance.  The practice was akin to kneeling at the foot of the cross and seeking with a contrite heart a cleansing of the soul. In some places of worship, public confession is practiced, and people are invited to empty their souls before the whole congregation. But times have changed, and the practice of confession of sins to God before an audience has all but disappeared.  Granted, we can go directly to God and confess our sins in private, however, this post mainly concerns the duty of repentance overall.

John the Baptist Prepares the Way

1In those days John the Baptist came, preaching in the Desert of Judea 2and saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near.” 3This is he who was spoken of through the prophet Isaiah:

“A voice of one calling in the desert, ‘Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him.’”a

“In the time of John, the nation had become extremely wicked and corrupt, perhaps more so than at any preceding period. Hence, both he and Christ began their ministry by calling the nation to repentance.”    Barnes’ Notes on the Bible

……………………………………..

Matthew 4:17  “From that time on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near.”

Both John and our Lord began their ministries calling for sinners to “repent.” So how is it that ministers today omit this requirement for salvation? Jesus said, “…It is not those who are healthy who need a physician, but those who are sick; I did not come to call the righteous but sinners.”

Luke 5:32 says that sinners are called to repentance.

……………………………………..

mourners three

“I came not to call the righteous,…. Such as the Scribes and Pharisees were in their own apprehension, and in the esteem of others, who trusted in themselves, that they were righteous, and submitted not to the righteousness of Christ: these Christ came not to call by his grace, and therefore did not associate himself with them: but sinners to repentance; such as the publicans, and others, with them, were; and therefore he was chiefly with such, and chose to be among them: these he not only called to repentance by the outward ministry of the word, but brought them to it; he having power to bestow the grace of repentance, as well as to call to the duty of it;” Gill’s Exposition of the Entire Bible

……………………………………..

“5:27-39 It was a wonder of Christ’s grace, that he would call a publican to be his disciple and follower. It was a wonder of his grace, that the call was made so effectual. It was a wonder of his grace, that he came to call sinners to repentance, and to assure them of pardon. It was a wonder of his grace, that he so patiently bore the contradiction of sinners against himself and his disciples. It was a wonder of his grace, that he fixed the services of his disciples according to their strength and standing. The Lord trains up his people gradually for the trials allotted them; we should copy his example in dealing with the weak in faith, or the tempted believer.” Matthew Henry’s Concise Commentary

Jesus_Said_Repent

……………………………………..

Every person on the face of this earth could benefit from a mourner’s bench of the heart. At any time, we can call upon God to forgive our sins – but we must first acknowledge that we are sinners who have a desire to change our ways, and therefore we must repent. But how can we know that we sin against God and others, even ourselves if the preaching is watered down, preached timidly, and filled with promises of riches in this life? If preaching hellfire and brimstone, and repentance of sins is so unpopular – then how can sinners be convicted of their sins so they can come to Christ and be saved?

……………………………………..

Although repentance is for everyone, the remainder of this post will address domestic abusers, especially those who call themselves “Christians.”

Prayer of a Suffering Penitent

Kind David lamented in Psalm 38 that suffering, and un-confessed sin was the cause of his “anxiety.”

New American Standard Bible (©1995)
“For I confess my iniquity; I am full of anxiety because of my sin.”

“For I will declare mine iniquity – That is, he was not disposed to hide his sin. He would make no concealment of the fact that he regarded himself as a sinner. He admitted this to be true, and he admitted that his sin was the cause of all his troubles. It was the fact that he was a sinner that so painfully affected his mind; and he was not disposed to attempt to conceal it from anyone.”  Barnes’ Notes on the Bible

……………………………………..

“I will be sorry for my sin – I will not deny it; I will not apologize for it. I admit the truth of what my conscience charges on me; I admit the correctness and the propriety of the divine judgment by which I have been afflicted on account of my sin; I desire to repent of all my transgressions, and to turn from them.”

“For I will declare mine iniquity,…. Either to men, to ease his mind, justify God in his proceedings with him, and for their caution and admonition: or rather to God, against whom he had sinned, and who only could pardon him; with a view to which he was determined to make a free and open confession of it before him:”  Gill’s Exposition of the Entire Bible

mourner four

……………………………………..

“David’s troubles were the chastisement and the consequence of his transgressions, whilst Christ suffered for our sins and ours only. What right can a sinner have to yield to impatience or anger, when mercifully corrected for his sins? David was very sensible of the present workings of corruption in him.” Matthew Henry’s Concise Commentary

……………………………………..

1 Corinthians 11:32 “When we are judged by the Lord, we are being disciplined so that we will not be condemned with the world.”

David’s penitent prayer did not include a “mourner’s bench” – but his soul mourned over his sins. Deep inside, his soul acknowledged he was a sinner, had sinned, confessed it, and repented.

2 Corinthians 7:10  “Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death.”

David’s heart was contrite and his prayer of repentance was honored by God.

New American Standard Bible (©1995)
“The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; A broken and a contrite heart, O God, You will not despise.”

……………………………………..

“The good work wrought in every true penitent, is a broken spirit, a broken and a contrite heart, and sorrow for sin. It is a heart that is tender, and pliable to God’s word. Oh that there were such a heart in every one of us! God is graciously pleased to accept this; it is instead of all burnt-offering and sacrifice. The broken heart is acceptable to God only through Jesus Christ; there is no true repentance without faith in him. Men despise that which is broken, but God will not.”   Matthew Henry’s Concise Commentary

You cannot be a Christian and an abuser as well. The words “Christian” and “abuser” are not synonymous. They do not belong together, and there is no such thing. There are “Christians” and there are those who abuse while claiming to serve Jesus Christ. If you are an abuser, you are not a true Christian.

Domestic violence and abuse amount to sin, and un-confessed sin separates us from God’s grace and hinders prayers:

Psalm 34:15 The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their cry;

Psalm 66:18 If I had cherished sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened;

New American Standard Bible (©1995)
“We know that God does not hear sinners; but if anyone is God-fearing and does His will, He hears him.”

Proverbs 15:29 The LORD is far from the wicked but he hears the prayer of the righteous.

Isaiah 1:15 – “When you spread out your hands in prayer, I will hide my eyes from you; even if you offer many prayers, I will not listen. Your hands are full of blood;”

Those of you who are married:

“In the same way, you husbands must give honor to your wives. Treat your wife with understanding as you live together. She may be weaker than you are, but she is your equal partner in God’s gift of new life. Treat her as you should so your prayers will not be hindered.” 1 Peter 3:7

Christians are not exempt from wrong-doing and committing evil even as the world does. Unfortunately, Christians have a tendency to see the world as “us” and “them,” “saints” and “sinner,” – however, believers can fall as well. We judge the sins of non-believers as if we never sinned ourselves:

“Such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.” 1 Corinthians 6:11

……………………………………..

“You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, be on your guard so that you are not carried away by the error of unprincipled men and fall from your own steadfastness,” New American Standard Bible (©1995)

1 Corinthians 10:12 “So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall!”

2 Peter 1:10 “Therefore, my brothers, be all the more eager to make your calling and election sure. For if you do these things, you will never fall…”

Abusers in the body of Christ do not love God, and they are not of God.  In fact, their whole idea of “love” is distorted and worldly. Love should not abuse. Love should not hurt.

……………………………………..

Preaching repentance from the pulpit may not be popular or draw crowds, but there is no other way to forgiveness. One may confess to accept Jesus Christ, but without true repentance and a heart change, the confession is mere words – worthless.

Abusers in the body of Christ are yet “carnal” and have “a form of godliness.”

Having a form of godliness – will apply well to those who have all their religion in their creed, confession of faith, catechism, bodies of divinity, etc., while destitute of the life of God in their souls; and are not only destitute of this life, but deny that such life or power is here to be experienced or known. They have religion in their creed, but none in their hearts. Clarke’s Commentary on the Bible

……………………………………..

Fear of God pic

“When men do not fear God, they will not regard man. When children are disobedient to their parents, that makes the times perilous. Men are unholy and without the fear of God, because unthankful for the mercies of God. We abuse God’s gifts, if we make them the food and fuel of our lusts. Times are perilous also, when parents are without natural affection to children. And when men have no rule over their own spirits, but despise that which is good and to be honoured. God is to be loved above all; but a carnal mind, full of enmity against him, prefers any thing before him, especially carnal pleasure.” Matthew Henry’s Concise Commentary

……………………………………..

But denying the power thereof – Opposing the real power of religion; not allowing it to exert any influence in their lives. It imposes no restraint on their passions and carnal propensities, but in all respects, except in the form of religion, they live as if they had None. This has been common in the world. From such turn away – Have no contact with them as if they were Christians; show no countenance to their religion; do not associate with them; compare 2 John 1:10-11; see the notes at 2 Corinthians 6:17.   Barnes’ Notes on the Bible

……………………………………..

New American Standard Bible (©1995)
“THERE IS NO FEAR OF GOD BEFORE THEIR EYES.”

……………………………………..

Family-Praying1

“There is no fear of God – Psalm 36:1. The word “fear” here denotes “reverence, awe, veneration.” There is no such regard or reverence for the character, authority, and honor of God as to restrain them from crime. Their conduct shows that they are not withheld from the commission of iniquity by any regard to the fear or favor of God. The only thing that will be effectual in restraining people from sin, will be a regard to the honor and Law of God.” Barnes’ Notes on the Bible

……………………………………..

Many people ask, “When will domestic violence end?” The only way this evil will end is those who abuse must first hear the pure undiluted Word of God. The power is not in the preaching per se, but in the Word itself:

“For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12

……………………………………..

“The idea here is, that what “God had said” is suited to detect hypocrisy and to lay open the true nature of the feelings of the soul, so that there can be no escape for the guilty. His “truth” is adapted to bring out the real feelings, and to show man exactly what he is. Truth always has this power – whether preached, or read, or communicated by conversation, or impressed upon the memory and conscience by the Holy Spirit. There can be no escape from the penetrating, searching application of the Word of God. That truth has power to show what man is, and is like a penetrating sword that lays open the whole man; compare Isaiah 49:2. The phrase “the Word of God” here may be applied, therefore, to the “truth” of God, however made known to the mind. In some way it will bring out the real feelings, and show what man is.” Barnes’ Notes on the Bible

……………………………………..

repent7

“When I say to a wicked man, ‘You will surely die,’ and you do not warn him or speak out to dissuade him from his evil ways in order to save his life, that wicked man will die for his sin, and I will hold you accountable for his blood.” Ezekiel 3:18

……………………………………..

“Repent” is not a dirty word – it holds the key to spiritual regeneration, and leads the lost and erring to the One who saves. It opens the door of stony hearts to receive guidance from God’s loving kindness and long suffering for our sakes. Feel good sermons won’t change hearts, nor will prosperity preaching – teaching disciples to place their trust in riches. Repentance cleanses the soul and gives us another chance to be in right standing with God.

……………………………………..

If you are an abuser who claims to know God, you are lying to yourself. You who are in the pulpit and abusing your loved ones are worst off, and you will be subject to a higher scrutiny in the Judgment. There should be no shame in confessing your faults to save your souls. If not, why bother getting up on Sunday morning and walking through the church house doors? What is the point? God is not listening to you.

……………………………………..

Except-Ye-Repent

Lastly, King David acknowledged that his sins and his sins alone were the cause of his misery. Abusers blame their loved ones when things go wrong in their lives, but David says:

New American Standard Bible (©1995)
“For I confess my iniquity; I am full of anxiety because of my sin.”

……………………………………..

Abusers possess an uneasy spirit – a fretfulness that does not allow them to be at peace with themselves. In public, they put on a front that all is well until they reach home. When those who could witness their false sense of self are not present, they unleash their unjust fury upon those who they claim to love.

Abusers why not put pride aside and do as David did before it is too late? Domestic violence and abuse is wrong, sinful, and you alone are to blame for the turmoil within your household. You may lead the beautiful songs on Sunday morning, preach earth shaking sermons, and serve within your congregation seven days a week – but your un-repentant sins will soon find you out.

How to Recognize True (and false) Contrition — by Dr. George Simon, Jr.

“A person’s character deficiencies inevitably spawn a host of irresponsible behavior patterns – bad habits that can become easily ingrained and, once rooted, extremely hard to break.  Often, these dysfunctional patterns involve forms of mental, emotional, and even physical abuse within relationships.  And while many of the character-impaired individuals I’ve worked with experienced periods of profound unhappiness and even a degree of regret over their actions, only a handful made truly significant changes in their once destructive behaviors.”

…………………………………….

“Kevin says faith has also helped him, but it’s only one piece of the puzzle. “What oftentimes happens is that people will think because they’re at a church or a synagogue or a mosque or whatever their particular faith is that they’re okay. No. Are you really dealing with where this emotional hurt came from?” he says. “Mental development has to happen, emotional development.”

“Kevin says healing doesn’t only happen when talking to a therapist or pastor. It also happens through support groups or advocacy organizations. “Part of this is that we have got to make a commitment to becoming allies in speaking out against this,” he says. “Are you willing for the rest of your life to commit verbally, emotionally, spiritually to challenging any forms of violence toward women and girls?” he says. “That’s the kind of work we need to get to.”

Why Men Abuse Women

“Tony says it felt like he “blacked out” during the abuse. “You don’t understand what’s going on,” he says. “I completely own up to [what I did], but in that rage, it’s like your brain wires, they aren’t clicking.”

“He says being in an abusive relationship is like being in a drug addiction. “It becomes like your bond in the sense that the woman is like cocaine inside of that relationship. That’s the only connection you have, because there’s no real love,” he says. “In order to overcome it, it’s almost like you have to separate, go to rehab, move out of the dope house and never come back.”

“WHAT SIN WRECKS THE CHURCH THE MOST?”

By Terry Loving

WARNING – Graphic picture of abortion in this post.

American Standard Version
“Wherefore he’saith, Awake, thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall shine upon thee.”

………………………….

The title of this post is another “search term” used to find my site. I will do my best to answer this inquiry from a Biblical point of view.

Sin is sin. There are no big sins, and there are no little sins. Sin cannot be measured by who commits it, or by means or degrees. No matter who commits sin – sin is still sin, period.

………………………….

“According to Catholic doctrine there are “venial” sins which don’t lead to death and “mortal” sins which do lead to death. Both must be forgiven by a priest, usually with some penance thrown in. Venial sin that hasn’t been confessed before death must be worked off in purgatory. Mortal sin can’t be worked off in purgatory and will condemn a Catholic believer to Hell.” 1

………………………….

Many years ago I interviewed a young lady who confessed that she tried to kill herself. Really, she had no real intention of slitting her wrist, for she used a “butter knife.” She told me that she was Catholic and she didn’t really want to die, just to “punish” her parents. Her major complaint was the fact that they were “always after her” to clean her room. She thought that she could slit her wrists, go to “purgatory,” and look down on her parents suffering from her death. She said to me, “I just want to watch them suffer.”

………………………….

UNBELIEF – causes strife within the body of Christ.

This young lady thought that she could watch their “agony” from “purgatory,” and gain some satisfaction from the scene. She also thought that she would be in a place to “wait off her sins.” Of course this notion isn’t truly Biblical, and I had a very long chat with her. My point in mentioning the above is that truly, there are no degrees of sin. Some people can commit the most heinous crimes, while some little kid steals a bubble gum. Both acts amount to wrong-doing no matter how you look at it.

………………………….

NOTE: This post is not about knocking any one religion. However, it is about searching for truth. In addition, the word “church” – “ekklesia” – refers to the people of God, not a building. The Greek word further means a calling out of –  “from ek, “out of,” and klesis, “a calling” (kaleo, “to call”) – believers are “called out of” the world (disassociate) – to serve Christ and His Kingdom. Therefore, when we speak of “sin wrecking the church,” we are referring to how sin ravages the people of God.

………………………….

All sin “wrecks the church” – especially sin that divide and destroy the body of Christ. If the Christian church is divided, fighting, bickering, hate filled, and not properly dividing the Word of truth – how can it be useful to a dying world? If one singles out a particular sin that encompasses all sin, it is the sin of unbelief. Every sin committed under the sun stems from unbelief.

………………………….

UNBELIEF – brings the things of the devil into the church house.

If a person does not believe in God, Christ or embrace and follow the Word of God, he will be a government unto himself. He or she will be known as a “free spirit,” living only as they see fit – not subjecting themselves to anyone, or any institution – especially the will of God. On the other hand, there are those who profess to follow Christ, but conduct themselves as though they do not. They will live like the world, and exercise their free will disregarding the will of God. Unbelievers are inside and outside of our church houses, and in America – we are experiencing the consequences of unbelief.

………………………….

NOTE: Accepting Christ does not mean you will arise from the watery grave of baptism a “perfect” person. No human will ever be perfect. Jesus was the only Perfect being that walked this earth. It takes time to grow to spiritual maturity, and we will stumble along the way. However, there should also be evidence of our trying to correct our wrongs. Grace is not a license to sin.

………………………….

Preachers may preach from pulpits every Sunday, and still be guilty of unbelief. Many pews are filled with people who just show up on Sunday for show, just to say they “go to church.” But deep within their hearts, they are cold and unresponsive to repentance, and heeding the warnings to change their lives. The Apostle Paul states in 1Timothy 1:13:

New International Version (©1984)
“Even though I was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent man, I was shown mercy because I acted in ignorance and unbelief.”

………………………….

UNBELIEF – destroys life.

Paul was forgiven for his persecution and murder of God’s people when he was known as “Saul.” He was converted on the road to Damascus. God saw something that He could use for His Kingdom in Saul. He became Paul, a great defender of the Gospel of Christ. The Apostle Paul’s experience is an example of a true conversion. I believe that many people were converted, but reverted back to their old ways.

UNBELIEF- promotes hatred.

………………………….

Are there not “foul-mouth,” (verbal abusers), persecutors (oppressors), and violent (abusive) persons in our “Christian” homes today? Paul said that he “acted in ignorance and unbelief.” Abusers operate from the same mindset. Which of these sins can be classified as “venial” or “mortal” sins? According to whom? Romans 6:23 proves that all sin is “mortal” – “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

………………………….

Unbelief and Its Consequences

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse.

For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the form of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals and crawling creatures.

Therefore God gave them over in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, so that their bodies would be dishonored among them. For they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.

Romans 1:18-25 –  (This chapter goes on to speak against homosexuality).

………………………….

The Israelites lost the privileged opportunity to enter the Promised Land due to unbelief.

As I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.”

Take heed, brethren, lest haply there shall be in any one of you an evil heart of unbelief, in falling away from the living God: but exhort one another day by day, so long as it is called To-day; lest any one of you be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin: for we are become partakers of Christ, if we hold fast the beginning of our confidence firm unto the end:

while it is said, To-day if ye shall hear his voice, Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.

For who, when they heard, did provoke? nay, did not all they that came out of Egypt by Moses? And with whom was he displeased forty years? was it not with them that sinned, whose bodies fell in the wilderness? And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that were disobedient? And we see that they were not able to enter in because of unbelief.”

………………………….

Today in America, we are witnessing the prophesied Falling Away from God. In our “Christian” congregations, there is much domestic violence and abuse. Preachers preach from pulpits-go home and terrorize their wives and children. Many preachers do not preach against domestic violence for they are guilty themselves of this evil. And they have plenty of company – Deacons, song leaders, Elders – many are guilty. So called “Christian” abusers practice unbelief by their actions, and how they treat the members of their household. They do not believe that they will give an account for the abuse. Verbal abuse is accountable to God on the Day of Judgment. Each one of us will give an account of ourselves to God.

………………………….

Unbelief causes Christians to turn their backs on God:

New American Standard Bible (©1995)
“Take care, brethren, that there not be in any one of you an evil, unbelieving heart that falls away from the living God.”

“Now concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being assembled to meet him … Let no one deceive you in any way; for that day will not come, unless the rebellion [in the original greek: apostasy – ‘great falling away’] comes first, and the lawless [one] is revealed, the son of perdition…”    2Thess 2:1,3

“Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils…”   1Timothy 4:1

“Behold, the days come, saith the Lord God, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the Lord…”   Amos 8:11

Hebrews 3:12 – “See to it, brothers, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God.”

Unbelief causes many to lose their souls –

New American Standard Bible (©1995)
“And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, in whose case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving so that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God,” (2Corinthians 4:3-4).

Abraham – “Without becoming weak in faith he contemplated his own body, now as good as dead since he was about a hundred years old, and the deadness of Sarah’s womb; yet, with respect to the promise of God, he did not waver in unbelief but grew strong in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully assured that what God had promised, He was able also to perform. Therefore IT WAS ALSO CREDITED TO HIM AS RIGHTEOUSNESS. Now not for his sake only was it written that it was credited to him, but for our sake also, to whom it will be credited, as those who believe in Him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead, He who was delivered over because of our transgressions, and was raised because of our justification.” Abraham was “justified” by faith.

New American Standard Bible (©1995)
“And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.”

Many unbelievers in and out of the church house do not believe that God sees their secret sins:

New American Standard Bible (©1995)
“They have said, “The LORD does not see, Nor does the God of Jacob pay heed.”

Isaiah 29:15 – “Woe to those who go to great depths to hide their plans from the LORD, who do their work in darkness and think, “Who sees us? Who will know?”

Ezekiel 9:9 – “He answered me, “The sin of the house of Israel and Judah is exceedingly great; the land is full of bloodshed and the city is full of injustice. They say, ‘The LORD has forsaken the land; the LORD does not see.’”

Job 22:13 – “Yet you say, ‘What does God know? Does he judge through such darkness?”

The sin of unbelief is destroying our homes, our witness for Christ, our country, and our souls.

What is the remedy?

New American Standard Bible (©1995)
“Therefore repent of this wickedness of yours, and pray the Lord that, if possible, the intention of your heart may be forgiven you.”

Daniel 4:27 – “Therefore, O king, be pleased to accept my advice: Renounce your sins by doing what is right, and your wickedness by being kind to the oppressed. It may be that then your prosperity will continue.”

Proverbs 24:9 – “The schemes of folly are sin, and men detest a mocker.”

Isaiah 55:7 – “Let the wicked forsake his way and the evil man his thoughts. Let him turn to the LORD, and he will have mercy on him, and to our God, for he will freely pardon.”

New American Standard Bible (©1995)
Immediately the boy’s father cried out and said, “I do believe; help my unbelief.”

NOTE: Abused persons may view their situation as hopeless, and conclude that there is no way out. You must believe that God loves you and will work along with you to find a way out. He is not a magician with a magic wand to instantly make the abuse stop. We were given free will – and we must choose to find a way out with His help. If you look at the situation only, you will miss the open door opportunities to find relief. If you drop anchor in the pool of unbelief, Satan will convince you that God does not care about what you are going through – and that is a lie!

The Unpardonable Sin

“He who is not with Me is against Me; and he who does not gather with Me scatters.”

“Therefore I say to you, any sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven people, but blasphemy against the Spirit shall not be forgiven. “Whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man, it shall be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come.” (Matthew 12:30-32)

MAY GOD BLESS THE HEARERS AND DOERS OF HIS WORD.

“Creflo Dollar Defends Eddie Long; Rebukes Unforgiving Followers”

By Terry Loving

Creflo – if Eddie Long is innocent, what is there to forgive?

New American Standard Bible (©1995)
“Woe to the shepherds who are destroying and scattering the sheep of My pasture!” declares the LORD.

“They dress the wound of my people as though it were not serious. ‘Peace, peace,’ they say, when there is no peace.”  (Jeremiah 6:14)

“He had a wreck but here’s the good news…he had insurance!  [Jesus]

You clap your hands now but let me have a wreck. I wanna see how many of yall NEGROS still gon’ be here…How many of yall precious saints of God…”1

The good ole’ boy’s network is alive and thriving.

If Creflo Dollar wants to defend Eddie Long – that is his business. I could care less about either one of them. The first time I had heard both of them speak at the invitation of friends, they each preached false doctrine concerning money. So, tsk, they are in the same money grubbing boat as far as I am concerned.

………………………………….

Creflo’s defense of a man accused of sexual immorality – with young men no less – is appalling. Especially since he turned away hurting people who left lies and deception – unknowingly leaving the frying pan for the fire. Both of these false preachers are arrogant, and lack true spiritual knowledge coupled with humility.

………………………………….

The hellish attitude that Creflo spewed forth to those who came to his church for comfort is sickening. Creflo called Eddie Long his “friend,” and those who departed lies, deception, sexual allegations, and much darkness – “hypocrites.” He “rebuked” hurting people who were duped, and financially raped – though willingly – for separating themselves from ungodliness on behalf of their spiritual leader.

………………………………….

“Half the harm that is done in this world
Is due to people who want to feel important
They don’t mean to do harm
But the harm does not interest them.
Or they do not see it, or they justify it
Because they are absorbed in the endless struggle To think well of themselves.”

T. S. Eliot

http://www.narcissism101.com/

NARCISSISM

Inordinate fascination with oneself; excessive self-love;vanity.
Psychoanalysis – erotic gratification derived from admiration of one’s own physical or mental attributes, being a normal condition at the infantile level of personality development.

……………………………………..

Noted, Creflo described the abuse of spiritual authority by way of sexual perversion, gifts, trips, money, and an expensive settlement as a “wreck.” A wreck Creflo? What Long was accused of was no fender-bender, crash, smash up, or accident Creflo – this situation is about beguiling four young men – who were boys first – and setting them up for sexual favors. Those who defend Long overlook the fact that some mother’s child was sexually, and spiritually violated.

………………………………….

This is the same mentality that many abused women face when confiding in their pastors. Let me ask you this Creflo – are abused women “self-righteous,” and “judgmental” for leaving violence and abuse? You are trying to guilt the former members of New Birth into returning to unrighteousness, much like many pastors who don’t know how to deal with domestic violence, or counsel out of ignorance. Sure, all Christians have “wrecks” from time to time, but the flock is not commanded to care for themselves. God provides leaders who have spiritual principles to abide by, to present themselves as a standard by which the congregation measures spiritual progress and holiness. We have forgiveness of sins through REPENTANCE!

………………………………….

Now, there are certain things that I’ve grown from and should never do but if I have a wreck? I’m still gon’ go to heaven. Now YOU might mess some stuff up based on how you treat me.

The preacher in the city here, he still gon’ go to Heaven. He’s cleansed; he’s alright. And if you from that church that you know I’m talking about and you trying to join here, I don’t want you to join here. You need to go and join where you ‘spose to be.”

And what arrogance to tell God’s people, “I don’t want you here.” Personally, I believe you did them a favor – those who were hurt by your conceited rebuke – and left your church to find a true man of God. Since when, if your church is truly the Lord’s church – do you have the right to turn away souls that seek to worship Christ? Jesus said, “Come unto Me…” and you are telling people to “Go away!” Some of those very hurt people will turn away from Christ all together, all in the name of you defending your “friend” – another lost soul in the pulpit.

………………………………….

Further, Creflo, I sincerely hope you come across this post. You go on to say, “You need to go and join where you supposed to be…” Now doesn’t that sound like a pastor telling an abused woman to go back to “where you ‘spose to be” – with your abusive head of the household? This attitude is no different from the pastors that admonish women to “submit more,” “cook better,” “have more sex,” and just “shut up!” Abused women have been counseled to “stop pushing his buttons” – and go back to ungodliness and shame.

………………………………….

Creflo also stated, “Look at how you handled it. That’s the hypocrisy of the whole thing; like you was flawless.” He didn’t come right out and say that he was addressing New Birth members, but we all know who he was talking down to. You got it wrong Dolla-Dolla, look how Eddie Long “handled it.” He lied to his flock, and gave them a snow job about fighting the allegations, and now he is arrogantly asking for more money. Oh, and plans to set up more churches. He spent millions of tithes – hush money – to make his sins disappear from the spotlight. It won’t happen. You can argue that Long spent his own money, or “love offerings” to pay the four accusers – but where did the money come from in the first place? Hhhhhmmmm.

………………………………….

Here in the South, Christians throw that word “anointed” around too much for my taste. But that’s just me. Of Long, Creflo also says, “That preacher’s still anointed to do what he was called to. He just had a wreck.” And you are…..? First of all, not all in the pulpit were “called.” And a settlement without a legal fight, not that he could not afford it – is an admission of being too close to the fire, if not right in the midst of the flames. No truly innocent person would give away millions of dollars without a fight, especially being wrongly accused of sexual perversion – an abomination.

………………………………….

“And I just can’t believe that people would leave their preacher because he had a wreck, instead of praying for him!”

Who is to say they were not, and still praying for their preacher Creflo? They were praying that the sexual allegations were not true. They were praying that their preacher was not on the DL (Down Low), sleeping with other men. They were praying that their preacher would throw those “five rocks” and redeem his name – take away their reproach as a congregation. They were praying that his accusers would walk away in shame, instead – they walked away very rich. They were praying Creflo – but their leader let them down before the whole world. This evil was not limited to Lithonia, Georgia – it was exposed to the whole world.

………………………………….

“That pastor, he’s loved them and he’s taken care of them, given to them … OK, so he had a wreck. You have some wrecks. I’m thinking ‘man, the mercy of God showed on you but you couldn’t show it to the preacher?'”

Creflo says, “OK, so he had a wreck” like it is not a big deal. Tell that to the millions of children who were, and will be sexually abused. This hit me hard for I was one of those children. Tell that to the countless souls that were raped – the children who are sold as sex slaves – the innocent babies that are still in diapers being molested – the swelling number of women who are abused and tormented by violence in Christian, and non-Christian homes. Can you label these sins a “wreck” too Creflo? By the way, it seems more like the flock took care of him. Many of the members at New Birth are without jobs, and don’t know where their next meal is coming from. Eddie and his family have no financial worries – thanks to the members at New Birth.  So who took care of who? He’s RICH!

………………………………….

Addressing Long’s case, without naming names, Dollar defended his “friend” and “brother in the Lord,” saying “he’s still going to go to heaven; he’s cleansed; he’s alright.”

Oh, and you are God now? How do you know Long is “still going to heaven; he’s cleansed; he’s alright?” Not once has Eddie Long owned any guilt, wrong-doing, nor has he repented or shown any humility. If he had done the right thing, he would not have been in this position in the first place. And yes Creflo, we all struggle with sin daily. But not all are standing in the pulpit leading the sheep astray. There is no accountability in your church or Long’s for that is the way you set up your so-called ministry – as most mega-churches.

………………………………….

“He also suggested that these kinds of “wrecks” will go away with time.”

Well Creflo, this one won’t go away for quite some time, if ever. Here is one reason, Long is back in the limelight like nothing is wrong – planning to expand his ministry – instead of healing the wounded souls that believed him to be upstanding with God. He is showing very little care for the hurting people who are now wandering in the wilderness. Not everyone wants to sweep sin under the rug.

………………………………….

Even though it wasn’t my intent to write about this issue, I had to shed light on the mindset that keep so many abused Christians bound to the chains of hell. Even the non-Christians have no real place to go for help to change their abusive behaviors. Our churches should be leading the way to end domestic violence and abuse. But, most Christians have been lulled to sleep by false prophets, getting their itching ears tickled. And the preachers, well, it is all about the money these days.

………………………………….

I pray for those who are spiritually bewildered and wondering “What next?” I pray not only for your wounded hearts to heal, but that God will lead you to true men of God who live their lives with spiritual integrity – men who preach the true Word of God without compromise – who are not concerned with riches, but lost souls. I pray that God will lead you to spiritual leaders who refuse to exchange the truth for a lie – leaders with empathy, humility, godliness, and leaders who understand that time is not long as it once was, and we have no time to waste on the things of this present world – which are passing away.

Final note:

Why is Creflo defending a man who would not defend himself? Instead, Long paid his way out of further exposure of his private sins. But God, saw everything!

In many ways, Creflo probably thought that he was doing Eddie Long a service. My educated guess is Creflo would not have had a problem with the financial increase to his ministry – however – the increase would be from the decrease of his friend’s financial pockets. In other words, this is a code of brotherhood which looks out for one another. It would look bad for Creflo to accept tithes from the former flock of his crony, knowing full well that the mass exodus and the lawsuit settlement decreased the size of Eddie’s financial kingdom.

You see, Creflo had no choice but to be harsh, arrogant, and prideful in turning Eddie’s flock away. Guilt is very powerful, and the devil gave Creflo the tool that would strike at the heart of God’s people, and cause some to return to that den of iniquity. This way Creflo can say, “Eddie, I tried to help you.” Creflo didn’t want to touch this controversy with a ten foot pole. In his own pride and arrogance, he did more damage to the situation than good. Shame.

For those who defend Long and not call him to open rebuke, you will have to answer to God for your blindness. May God continue to show mercy to all of us.

Peace

“1:17-23 Sensual men separate from Christ, and his church, and join themselves to the devil, the world, and the flesh, by ungodly and sinful practices. That is infinitely worse than to separate from any branch of the visible church on account of opinions, or modes and circumstances of outward government or worship.

……………………………………………………..

Sensual men have not the spirit of holiness, which whoever has not, does not belong to Christ. The grace of faith is most holy, as it works by love, purifies the heart, and overcomes the world, by which it is distinguished from a false and dead faith. Our prayers are most likely to prevail, when we pray in the Holy Ghost, under his guidance and influence, according to the rule of his word, with faith, fervency, and earnestness; this is praying in the Holy Ghost.

……………………………………………………..

And a believing expectation of eternal life will arm us against the snares of sin: lively faith in this blessed hope will help us to mortify our lusts. We must watch over one another; faithfully, yet prudently reprove each other, and set a good example to all about us. This must be done with compassion, making a difference between the weak and the wilful. Some we must treat with tenderness. Others save with fear; urging the terrors of the Lord.

……………………………………………………..

All endeavours must be joined with decided abhorrence of crimes, and care be taken to avoid whatever led to, or was connected with fellowship with them, in works of darkness, keeping far from what is, or appears to be evil.”1

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE – What Is Love?

By Terry Loving

Every human craves it. Newborns will die without it. We seek it in one place or another, and we look to each other to supply it. Animals are created to express love in their instinctive ways, and often times they outshine humans in their giving of love. Children are born with the capacity to love – even until the end of time. But what is love really?

………………………………………………….

For many, it isn’t enough to say, “God is love,” for they don’t know God. They can’t know the depth of His love if they don’t know anything about Him. Even those who profess to worship and adore Him are at a loss to define the deepness of the love in the heart of our Creator. Although we were fashioned in the image of a Holy God, love eludes our hearts and minds – thus we have become cold, demanding, violent, abusive, and indifferent without any real desire to change.

………………………………………………….

In the Last Days, the Bible says that the “love of many will wax cold,” (Matthew 24:12). It shows. I believe “love will wax cold” for we don’t understand love. Most people think that love is an avenue of receiving without much or any responsibility of reciprocation whatsoever. The “love ignorant” will take and take and take and take until there is nothing left to receive. Abusers and the violent have never tasted true love – for if they had – their lives would reflect a higher realm of purpose and direction. Love is spiritual. Love is God – for God is love.

………………………………………………….

“Love acteth not rashly – Does not hastily condemn any one; never passes a severe sentence on a slight or sudden view of things. Nor does it ever act or behave in a violent, headstrong, or precipitate manner. Is not puffed up – Yea, humbles the soul to the dust.” 1

………………………………………………….

Love comes not without regeneration. In its absence, there is only the physical love (Eros), with Agape (brotherly love), sorely wanting. If you really want to know how to love, or know if the love you are receiving is genuine, only Love Himself can clearly define what He has so freely given. His first gift was His desire to be with us. And His second gift was the death of His only Son to save us – so that we could be with Him forever – without end. Do you have that much love in your heart?

………………………………………………….

1 Corinthians 13 is a great place to learn about real love. You will learn what love is, and what love isn’t. The next time someone says, “I love you” to you – test the love by the standards of the One who is and knows true love:

1.   Is love patient, kind – does it overlook petty mistakes?

2.   Is love envious, boastful or proud?

3.   Is love compassionate and forgiving as Christ forgives us?

4.   If there are contentions and strife, does love cover them all?

5.   Does love wish you well – or is it harsh, ill-nature and mean?

6.   Does love stir up dissensions and separates friends?

7.   Does love promote love or hate?

8.   Does love possess the fruits of the Spirit – “love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, and faithfulness?” (Galatians 5:22)

………………………………………………….

Abusers will beat you one minute, and tell you they “love you” the next. During the cycle of violence, you will revisit the “honeymoon” stage many times before you are finally free from the violence and abuse. This is the make-up (sex), flowers, calm, fake remorse, empty promise stage where you will get sucked into the nightmare over and over again. You will either live through it, eventually leave, or regretfully – you may die. How the story ends is up to each individual. No one can tell you when you have had enough.

………………………………………………….

Understanding what love is, and what it isn’t will help you to make informed decisions. No one wants to accept much less than what they deserve. And if God Himself desires to give us the very best that He can give us, why should we settle for less? He is not looking down on the abused with His arms crossed in anger; instead – His hands are opened wide – waiting for you to take His hand and walk eternally with Him in love and peace.

WHEN SHALL CHRIST RETURN?

By Terry Loving

“It is needless and useless to ask about the particular time of Christ’s coming. Christ did not reveal this to the apostles. There are times and seasons for us to work in and these are our duty and interest to know and observe; but as to the time when we must give up our account, we know it not, nor is it needful that we should. The coming of Christ will be a great surprise to men. Our Lord himself said so.”1

Save the date: Jesus is coming on May 21, 2011. At least, that’s according to organizers of a billboard campaign slated to hit metro Atlanta next week. Allison Warden of Raleigh, N.C.-based WeCanKnow.com said the Christian Web site plans to place 50 billboards in the metro area proclaiming the rapture and Jesus’ imminent return, based on analysis of Scripture and biblical genealogy.”2

…………………………………….

“Seventy-nine percent of U.S. Christians say they believe Christ will return one day…” – and He shall return – but the Bible does not pinpoint a specific time frame or day when our Lord will return. Several religious groups have falsely predicted the return of Christ because “no man knows the hour.” This is false doctrine and delusional theology. To claim such knowledge is prideful, and speaks where God has not spoken.

…………………………………….

Where is the date, May 21, 2011 recorded in the Holy Bible? I wish someone would show it to me, for I have yet to find it. And really, I am not looking for it because it is a lie! We are living in some crazy times, with people doing crazy things, and religious nuts predicting insanity. As a believer and follower of Jesus Christ, I stand with the Word – there is a curse awaiting those who add to, or subtract from the Bible, (Revelations 22:18). Ecclesiastes 8:7 says, “Since no man know the future, who can tell him what is to come?”

…………………………………….

A THIEF IN THE NIGHT- (Un-Expectantly)

(1 Thessalonians 5:2)

Thieves are more brazen these days, and they break in during the daytime – even when there are people at home. This scripture refers to the catching of the occupants in the home unawares. The most vulnerable time for them is when they are sleeping; therefore, many break-ins occur late at night. Spiritually speaking, many will be as Luke, 21:34 states, “…weighed down with dissipation, drunkenness and the anxieties of life…” – neglecting the salvation of their souls (spiritually sleeping). Young people especially feel that they have time to come to Christ. The attitude of many is, “I haven’t lived yet,” – and they choose to put off coming to Christ until they are older – which holds no guarantee.

…………………………………….

As in the days of Noah, when the flood came the unsaved were unprepared – “…and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. This is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.” (Matthew 24:39)

You can be sure that no one will miss the coming of Christ:

“For as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.” (Matthew 24:27)

…………………………………….

“At that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and all the nations of the earth will mourn. They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory.”(Matthew 24:30)

“And Jesus began to say to them, “See to it that no one misleads you. “Many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am He!’ and will mislead many. “When you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be frightened; those things must take place; but that is not yet the end. “For nation will rise up against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; there will be earthquakes in various places; there will also be famines. These things are merely the beginning of birth pangs.” (Mark 13:5-8)

…………………………………….

The second coming of Christ will be a time of hope and redemption. The godly will suffer at the hands of the ungodly no more; and in time, peace and justice will rule. Those who have caused harm to others will be paid back for their misdeeds, (2Peter 2:13). “But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, the home of righteousness.” “For here we do not have an enduring city, but we are looking for the city that is to come.” (Hebrews 13:14)

…………………………………….

Most importantly, someday the opportunity to repent and turn to Christ will be over. “He again fixes a certain day, “Today,” saying through David after so long a time just as has been said before, “TODAY IF YOU HEAR HIS VOICE, DO NOT HARDEN YOUR HEARTS.” (Hebrews 4:7)

..……………………………….

“The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light.” (Romans 13:12)

“Be on guard! Be alert! You do not know when that time will come.” (Mark 13:33)

“For in just a very little while, “He who is coming will come and will not delay.” (Hebrews 10:37)

…………………………………….

“You too, be patient and stand firm, because the Lord’s coming is near.” (James 5:8)

“Be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man.” (Luke 12:40)

“Do not be carried away by all kinds of strange teachings.” (Hebrews 13:9)

“The day of judgment will soon arrive, with full redemption to believers, and destruction to ungodly men. But of that day, NO MAN KNOWS!

…………………………………….

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways My ways,” declares the LORD.

“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are My ways higher than your ways
And My thoughts than your thoughts.” (Isaiah 55:8-9)

God is not a respecter of persons. If He gave this information to one group of “Christians,” He would have let all of His “true” children know His plans.”

…………………………………….

‘Rapture parties’ planned to celebrate ‘Doomsday’ on May 21

“The theory that the “Rapture”–or Judgment Day–will occur on May 21 appears to have originated with the 89-year-old leader of the ministry Family Radio Worldwide, Harold Camping, who earlier predicted the end of days as Sept. 6, 1994. He went back to the drawing board and says his calculations are now correct.” (NOT SO!)
