GAS STATION ROBBERY – MOTHER TURNED IN HER OWN CHILDREN

09 Jul

By Terry Loving

American Standard Version
The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son maketh a glad father; But a foolish son is the heaviness of his mother.”

……………………..

Ms. “Kizzy” – I applaud you! Not many parents would have turned their kids over to the authorities to receive just punishment. I know your heart is broken seeing your kids in trouble, no parent delights in their kids going astray. Especially when they have done all they could do to raise them right. And just the thought of a child being in jail is enough to make one weep. But if they won’t listen to wisdom, error is a good teacher as well.

……………………..

As I watched the video concerning this news article, it saddened me. I know there are kids of all races that do wrong, but it is my race – the Black race – that I am particularly concerned with at the moment. Too many of our young people are dying, killing one another, robbing, breaking in homes, and doing all kinds of evil before they even reach adulthood. Most of them have no future, and no one to set them on the right path – with the exception of parents such as Ms. “Kizzy.”

……………………………………

Instead of making excuses, this brave woman took a stand with her children. Tough love is not easy, and it is easier to look away and pretend that nothing happened. But in the end, it is the children that will pay dearly. And to the commentator that said, “If she was a good mom then her kids should have known better,” – you must be single with no children to raise. Another said, “Yeah well parent your kids right and they wouldn’t be doing this sort of thing to begin with.”

……………………………………

To this I say, you can parent your kids to do “right” as much as possible, but we still live in a fallen world. Your “right” kids will find “wrong” kids at school, church, the playground, next door, and anywhere they turn. You cannot keep your kids wrapped in a bubble.

It is true that too many of our young people go astray for they have no decent upbringing. But even if Ms. “Kizzy” made parenting mistakes like all parents will – should she not be commended for trying to end the cycle of crime before it escalates to tragedy? Could it be that she is hoping her children will be “scared straight?” Whatever the reason that she turned them in, she as their parent is ultimately responsible for the havoc they wreak on society – and that possibly is the reason why she took a stand while they are young and under her parental jurisdiction.

……………………………………

I find many news and blog commentators to be very ignorant – case in point:

“Let’s not forget about the 5 year old that killed the 2 year old in Kansas City by drowning him in the tub. It’s in these people’s DNA to rape, rob, and murder. Go to any black neighborhood after dark and try walking down the sidewalk. Let’s see how that works for you.”

“How many 5 year old white, asian, or mexican kids have you ever heard of? Face the fact that most black folks are too busy hitting the crack pipe to teach their kids any morals or values.”

……………………………………

Personally, I never smoked crack, and I did teach my children “morals” and “values.”  And surely I take offense to being lumped with rapist, robbers and murderers. It is not “… in these peoples DNA” to commit such acts. I am one of “these people” – meaning Black – which you IGNORANTLY speak of. By the way, I live in a neighborhood where you can safely walk down the street “after dark.” I refuse to get caught up in the tit for tat concerning which race takes the lead concerning evil doing. People can be so silly sometimes. This article is about a woman who made a tough decision to hopefully save her children from a life of crime, or worst.

……………………………………

Another commentator apparently did not agree with her decision:

“come on now your own kids not cool punish but thats harsh”

Punishment from parents does not work with all children, Black, White, Mexican – whatever. Often it is a hit or miss situation determining the right consequence for a child’s negative behavior. Some parents throw in the towel, lamenting they have “tried everything,” and nothing works. Too many children buck the system because they are determined to exercise their own free will.

……………………………………

Reality check – what is “harsh” is standing over your child’s casket when someone has taken their life before it really began. What is “harsh” is visiting your child in prison, not able to hug or kiss him for the glass petition won’t allow physical contact. What is “harsh” is knowing your child is responsible for pain, especially taking a life or causing physical harm – of any kind. What is “harsh” is seeing your child riding in the back of a police car on their way to jail – possibly for life.

The “harsh” reality is what we witnessed in the video can happen to any child – of any race.

……………………………………

The last un-edited comment I will share is this one:

“balck people always want credit for things that they suposed to do .”

I don’t believe Ms. “Kizzy” was seeking kudos from society. This is a mother, a woman who turned in her own children to an establishment that has not always been kind to Blacks in general. Remember the fire hoses and dogs loosed upon Civil Rights marchers? Rodney King? Slavery? I could go on and on, but I am sure you get my drift. To say that “Black people always want credit for things that they are supposed to do” isn’t entirely true. I believe this is something that Chris Rock joked about concerning fathers who pay child support and want to be recognized for doing so. This is a different matter completely.

……………………………………

Why can’t people just recognize that this woman did what most parents would not do and leave it at that? She didn’t send her kids to live with a relative to escape. She didn’t deny that they were involved in a crime. She didn’t make excuses for their actions. She didn’t blame their personal circumstances, past or present – no – she recognized the truth and stood for the law.

King James Bible
“Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,”

New American Standard Bible (©1995)
“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge; Fools despise wisdom and instruction.”

Perhaps her children “despised” her “wisdom and instruction.”

Matthew Henry’s Concise Commentary

“1:7-9 Fools are persons who have no true wisdom, who follow their own devices, without regard to reason, or reverence for God. Children are reasonable creatures, and when we tell them what they must do, we must tell them why. But they are corrupt and wilful, therefore with the instruction there is need of a law. Let Divine truths and commands be to us most honourable; let us value them, and then they shall be so to us.”

Matthew Henry’s Concise Commentary

1:10-19 Wicked people are zealous in seducing others into the paths of the destroyer: sinners love company in sin. But they have so much the more to answer for. How cautious young people should be! Consent thou not. Do not say as they say, nor do as they do, or would have thee to do; have no fellowship with them. Who could think that it should be a pleasure to one man to destroy another! See their idea of worldly wealth; but it is neither substance, nor precious. It is the ruinous mistake of thousands, that they overvalue the wealth of this world. Men promise themselves in vain that sin will turn to their advantage. The way of sin is down-hill; men cannot stop themselves. Would young people shun temporal and eternal ruin, let them refuse to take one step in these destructive paths. Men’s greediness of gain hurries them upon practices which will not suffer them or others to live out half their days. What is a man profited, though he gain the world, if he lose his life? much less if he lose his soul?

Perhaps this mother was looking towards the eternal – caring for the souls of her children.

Stay strong Ms. Kizzy.

Peace

New American Standard Bible (©1995)
“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.”

Your take on some of the comments was an interesting read. Although I admit that I live in a still racially divided world that gets quite cruel at times, I force myself not to see race most of the time. I am glad that this (black) mother showed America a good example of good parenting and stood up for responsibility and not condoning the bad behavior of most of our children. Our children typically get away with bad behavior because either they are not consequences or the consequences aren’t upheld. This mother upheld the consequences of irresponsible action.

      Hello “thetosinteatime.com.”

Race is a powder keg that will always remain explosive. Too often, good deeds are over-shadowed by the color of a person’s skin. Like yourself, I try to look past race, but the negative issues scream much louder than a persons character.

This mother made a brave and courageous decision that could possibly save the lives of her children. More so, she is breaking the mode of raising sociopaths in her home. I pray her efforts are successful.

      Thank you for your input.

      Peace
