The more I read about sociopath, psychopaths, and narcissism, the more I sigh, “Gee, what a scary world we live in.” But you know what? Malignant personalities have walked the earth since the beginning of time. As Ecclesiastes 1:9 says, “There is nothing new under the sun.” Nasty attitudes, hatefulness, wickedness, and the like are inherent as a result of the fall of man, (Genesis 3:1-24). It was jealously and hatred that took the life of Abel, the youngest son of Adam and Eve, (Genesis 4: 7-8). Jealousy turned into anger; anger turned into hate; hate killed an innocent man. The sociopath, psychopaths, and narcissist personalities have gained much attention over the years. Domestic violence is one of the reasons that the spotlight is shining so brightly upon the destruction that they leave behind.
That was the bad news. The good news is – there is a wealth of information found in books, the internet, and personal experiences etc. to enlighten you. Dating blindly isn’t a very good idea anymore. Surely doing a background check on an individual you want to date takes the fun out of the whole dating scene. However, evil is abounding, tragedy is all around us and there is no end in sight. According to the infallible Word of God, “… the days are evil, (Ephesians 5:15-16)
Another reason for educating yourself is your children. Too many times, the desperately lonely forget that their children are a part of the love equation. When you unknowingly invite a psychopath to your home, he or she has access to your precious children. Whatever bad stuff happens to you in the relationship happens to your offspring as well. Once your demented boyfriend starts slapping you around, it won’t be long before your babies start to feel the heat as well. Just because he smells good, dresses nice, and has money – or not – doesn’t guarantee that he will be good to you and your children. I speak from experience.
This post may sound like “gloom and doom,” but it is the truth and may save you from a lot of heartache someday. Psychopaths, sociopath and other twisted souls are extremely slick with their con games. They can make you believe that Jesus Himself hand delivered him to your door. After your confidence is gained, your bank account is depleted, your home repossessed, and you take one too many trips to the emergency room – you will – hopefully wake up.
